Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
