Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
